You will love this, in "Is TIGGER harmful to your grand children #01" I wrote about "MARTA" in Decatur, GA spending $10 million to go "green", this same station is now considering cutting 10 of the 23 bus routes. Poor people, some that have been riding the same bus for 18 years now will have no way to get to work!

Also, Decatur is the city featured in StimUwaste # 12 that is spending $382,000 of StimUwaste money to send teachers on a vacation trip, disguised as a conference to Hollywood, when those funds could have been used to hire teachers at the very least. The local schools beg parents to bring in toilet paper, paper towels, pens, etc. and they expect your kid to "share" with other kids that can't afford to buy school supplies (socialism) that the school should supply.

"Green" government at it's finest.

You poor people that are getting run over by having your bus lines threatened while they spend $10 million on LED lamps and solar panels and have to buy your kids paper to write on, while they spend $382,000 on a trip, just might think about getting rid of every democrat in office in your district. Then when you are done with that, get rid of every republican too. Then start voting in house moms and pastors and anyone else that has never ran for public office. Really, you can't mess it up any worse then the elected lawyers.

Major cuts in bus service proposed

"Tough times are ahead for South DeKalb commuters who rely on Marta buses to get to work, school, the doctor and the grocery store if a proposal to cut 10 of the 23 routes serving Decatur, Lithonia and Stone Mountain is approved.

The transit system, which is supported by DeKalb taxpayers, is facing a $120 million revenue shortfall for its 2011 financial year that starts July 1 and must reduce its size by 25 percent to 30 percent."

At least all those empty buses just sitting there in an empty lot will be lit by "green" LED lights 45 years from now. While poor people have to walk or take a taxi. The people in wheel chairs or on crutches, or too disabled to walk a long ways, well, they didn't need to go to the doctor, food store, or get out of the house did they?

Decatur GA has frittered away $55 million dollars of "stimulus" money.

What they could have done instead.

For the lines being canceled because of low rider numbers, MRTA could have bought 10 new Ford Econoline shuttle buses with diesel engines, loaded with opinions for $50,000. Cost: $500,000. Good used ones on craigslist sell for $8,000-$15,000.

Then hired ten unemployed non-union drivers for $12 an hour with no benefits for 40 hours a week. Basically drive six hours, two hours off to clean the buses and to do stand by. I don't believe in driving past six hours for bus drivers because of the sitting strain and attention span drifts (I was a courier). 10 drivers x $12 an hour x 40 hours per week x 52 weeks = $249600

One year investment =$750,000. The rest of the $10,000,000 could have paid for drivers for 37 years worth of driving.

$10,000,000 - $750,000 = $9,250,000

$9,250,000 left / $250,000 labor = 37

Glad everyone had their priorities straights spending the "stimulus" money.
